Executive Summary
Problem
Many learners struggle to engage with public health topics, particularly those related to urban environments. They often find it difficult to absorb information from text-based resources, making it challenging to systematically understand key public health concepts.
Solution
SaluCity educates users in an innovative and entertaining way by immersing them in a virtual city, where they can make decisions to improve public health based on their own judgment, sparking curiosity and increasing interest in the learning process.
Target User
SaluCity, developed in collaboration with the School of Public Health, is designed for use during school open days. It aims to engage younger audiences, particularly high school students, by helping them understand the factors that influence community health.
Project Goal
"How might we use VR serious game to enhance students' interest in urban public health and help them understand the factors that influence it?"
GAME OVERVIEW
ENTRACE POINT
The lobby serves as the entrance to the SaluCity project, where users can select other levels

LEVEL 01
The first level is an introduction, allowing players to familiarize themselves with the interaction methods, environment, and game mechanics
LEVEL 02
Explore this virtual urban landscape to learn about public health factors by reading text information and answering related questions

LEVEL 03
Moving from conceptual learning to practical application, students take on the role of city designers, selecting landscapes that enhance public health

Iteration in UX interactions
Considering the imprecision of controllers and the potential for motion sickness, interactions have been improved to minimize movement and fine adjustments.

Before
Users must walk up to the interface and adjust their position to face the text directly

After
UI is designed to always face the user and is consistently oriented toward them, reducing movements & adjustment
Next Step
Usability Test: We are in the process of recruiting undergraduate students for the initial usability test to evaluate the game's interface and overall experience. After gathering feedback and fixing common issues, we plan to conduct a more comprehensive test with high school students at Huron High School.
Data Collection Integration: We are currently working on integrating Firebase with the Spatial backend to collect user behavior data. This will allow us to track how students interact with the game, identify areas for improvement, and refine the overall user experience based on real-time data insights.
