URBAN INSTITUTE
ARCH 100B: Prof. Jason Campbell | Academic | Spring 2021 | Oakland, CA
The URBAN INSTITUTE is a collaborative effort of multiple programs focused on enhancing architecture and urban design in the Bay Area. The building is designed to improve the quality of urban life and experience by considering aspects such as light and air, performance, energy, and the larger urban context. The programs within the building have ample opportunities to interact with one another.
The building embodies the idea that urban life is ever-evolving and requires a constantly changing social and cultural infrastructure to meet new needs. To support non-profit ventures, the building offers flexible spaces that can be rented by other groups. However, some separations are necessary for security, independent hours of operation, and managing different user groups. Access to various parts of the building.
